Patreon
Writing on Patreon is great. You can find my Patreon here. Writing on patreon has come with it's own challenges though...
My first challenge has been keeping things going. I have fallen short of my initial intentions here and need to work harder on this. I love to write, but in order to do it full time I need to get paid to do it. Otherwise silly things like needing a way to pay my bills seem to sidetrack me. This is one reason I came to patreon in the first place. The subscription model let's me charge my "customers" per piece of content I release, per chapter for this patreon. Once this takes off, I think this will be a great way to help me stay motivated to keep writing.

My second challenge has been getting people to join. If used as a feedback about the quality of my work, this has been a real disappointment. I have two subscribers, both of which I know and read the chapters I have posted prior to the start of my patreon. I believe that I have failed to advertise my patreon account. I just haven't really figured out how to get people to check out my story. I've posted my sample chapter for people to check out, but how to I get people to take the time to read it?
My third third challenge is not so much patreon related as much as a challenge in writing my story. The ideas for my story don't come to me in a linear progression. My sample chapter is an excerpt from my story that takes place much later in the book than the other two chapters I have written. The chapter I'm writing now is probably going to end up chapter 5 or 6. Talking with my wife about this, I have found my current answer. I'm no longer going to worry about writing the story in a linear fashion, I'm going to write the story as I feel inspired to write it and worry about where to put it when it is closer to being finished.
